Top Rated Baby Carriers- Reviews

Let’s be honest, no one wants to lug around a car seat. They’re bulky, heavy, and aren’t a hands-free option for carrying your little one. Sometimes strollers aren’t an option either, especially in crowded areas or building with a lot of stairs.

Your best option is to get a decent baby carrier that allows you to carry your little one close to your heart – literally – while keeping both hands free if you need them.

Carrier Type Weight Limit Carry Positions Materials Cleaning
Ergobaby Aura Wrap 8-30 lbs Versatile Viscose from eucalyptus and acacia Machine washable

Ergobaby Omni 360 Soft structure 7-45 lbs Face in/out, back, hip Cotton Machine washable
Ergobaby Original Soft structure 12-45 lbs Face in, back, hip Cotton Machine washable
Boba 4G Baby Carrier Soft structure 7-45 lbs Face in, back Cotton Machine washable

1. Ergobaby Aura Baby Wrap

Baby wraps can be a bit tricky for beginners. While various tying methods can give it lots of versatility, it can be hard to get just right without your baby feeling too loose and falling out.

Ergobaby had this in mind when they designed the Aura wrap. They have designed this wrap with a colored guiding edge to help you know which way it should be tied to give you and your baby the right amount of support.

One of the best things about wraps is the level of comfort they offer for both you and your baby.

The Aura is made with 100% viscose material made from eucalyptus and acacia which is soft against your baby’s skin. It is also machine washable, making it easy to clean after several inevitable messes.

The wrap fits your unique body shape thanks to the amount of stretch in the fabric. Without buckles and straps, there is very little pressure on your shoulders.

Don’t let its light weight and “flimsy” design fool you. This wrap supports your baby from 8-30 pounds (3.6 to 13.6 kg).

Unlike other bulky carriers, this wrap is easily portable, folding into an integrated pocket for compact storage in your purse or diaper bag.

Pros:

  • Holds 8-30 pounds
  • Guided edge for easy tying
  • 100% soft viscose material
  • Machine washable
  • Folds into an integrated storage pocket

Cons:

  • Can still be difficult to tie for beginners
  • Some may find the fit unflattering
  • Not as quick and convenient as other carriers

2. Ergobaby 360 All Positions Cool Air Mesh Baby Carrier

Baby carriers can be a lifesaver when you need a hands-free way to carry your baby, but during the summer months, they can cause you and your little one to become a hot sweaty mess.

Thankfully, Ergobaby designed their 360 All Positions with Cool Air mesh to keep you both cool by allowing air flow during the hot summer months.

Ergobaby is known for their exceptional baby carriers, and the 360 All Positions includes the best features found in their other products.

Comfort is of the utmost importance for both you and your little one in a baby carrier. There is plenty of padding in the shoulder straps as well as a lower back support in the waistband to take the weight off your body and distribute it to the carrier.

Ergobaby baby carrier is also known for its ergonomic seat, which supports healthy hip development by keeping the legs in a natural “M” position. With slight seat adjustments, your baby can grow and develop properly with this carrier from 12-33 pounds (infant insert is required for newborns).

With the 360 All Positions carrier, you get just that – all carry positions. You can wear your baby on the front facing in or out as well as the back or hip, whatever is most comfortable for the two of you.

Pros:

  • All carry positions – front face in/out, back, hip
  • Ergonomic “M” position seat
  • Cooling mesh allows air flow
  • Supports 12-33 pounds
  • Comfort in shoulder straps and waistband

3. Ergobaby Omni 360 Baby Carrier

The Ergobaby Omni 360 is similar to the 360 All Positions, but with two significant differences: you don’t need an infant insert, and it supports your baby up to 45 pounds.

With the increase in weight range and the ability to carry your baby in all positions – front face in/out, back, and hip – you are sure to get a nice long life out of this carrier, which makes up for the slightly higher price.

Aside from these differences, you get most of the same features as the 360 All Positions.

There is ample padding in the shoulders and lumbar to support your baby’s weight without wearing you out.

Even without the infant insert, your baby’s legs remain in an ergonomic and safe “M” position to allow for healthy hip development.

In addition, this carrier is made with 100% cotton that is breathable, soft against your baby’s skin, and machine washable.

Pros:

  • Doesn’t require an infant insert (7-45 pounds)
  • All carry positions – front face in/out, back, hip
  • Ergonomic “M” position seat
  • 100% cotton is machine washable
  • Padded lumbar support

Cons:

  • Can get very hot with a baby inside
  • Arm straps are very long for a petite person

4. Ergobaby Original Baby Carrier

If you are going to be looking at Ergobaby carriers, you can’t forget the Ergobaby Original.

While there are many similarities with the Omni and 360 All Positions, the main difference is that the Original doesn’t have a front facing option. However, you do still have the options to wear your baby on your back and hip as well as facing you on the front.

You still get all the cushion and padding that’s available with other Ergobaby carriers as well as the ergonomic seat.

You do need to purchase the infant insert to use this carrier with a newborn, but unlike the 360 All Positions, you can use this carrier until your little one is around 45 pounds (starting from 12 pounds without the insert).

Pros:

  • Supports 12-45 pounds (without infant insert)
  • Ergonomic “M” position seat
  • Ample cushion in shoulders and lower back
  • Most carry positions – front face in, back, hip
  • 100% cotton is machine washable

Cons:

  • Need infant insert
  • No front facing carry position available

5. Boba 4G Baby Carrier

Taking a step away from Ergobaby products, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the Boba 4G carrier. Its design is simple, but it offers loads of support for your baby straight through their toddler years.

There is no need for an infant insert to use this carrier with your newborn. With an integrated and adjustable insert (with 2 positions), this carrier can support your child from 7-25 pounds on the front and 25-45 pounds on the back.

You do only get face-in positions – both front and back – with this carrier, but with the high back and ergonomic seat, your baby is sure to be comfortable. There are even removable foot straps and a sleep hood so your little one is set for long periods of wearing.

The Boba 4G is made with 100% cotton that is free from any potentially harmful dyes or materials. It is also machine washable making it easier for you to keep clean.

Pros:

  • Integrate, adjustable infant insert
  • Supports 7-45 pounds
  • Face-in positions on front and back
  • 100% cotton, free from harmful dyes and materials
  • Machine washable

Conclusion

Choosing one carrier as the best overall choice is difficult; they each have their own strengths and weaknesses. However, if I had to choose, I would say the Ergobaby Omni 360 would be my top pick.

It may be the most expensive carrier on our list, but with the features and benefits included, it’s well worth the price.

There is no need for an infant insert and you get extended life out of it since it can support your baby up to 45 pounds. With all the cushion for the parent and the ergonomic seat for the baby, both will be comfortable for extended periods of wear.
