Sandra’s story:

My name is Sandra and today I will be sharing my weight loss journey with you. Growing up as a chubby child, people constantly made fun of me and the way that I looked. It bothered me sometimes, but there was a time when I didn’t care as I was still happy with the way that I looked.

I got married at the very young age of 22 where I started gaining lots of weight after having children. I did not realize how much my weight was increasing until I had my second child. I was 122kg (or 268 pounds) at the age of 24 where I realized that I was becoming obese and it will only get worse if I don’t do anything about it.

People were still making fun of me and some were even calling me “big mama” because of my weight. I started having problems in my marriage and being overweight was one of the reasons. My, now ex-husband, made me feel uncomfortable with myself because he did not like the way that I looked. I lost my self-confidence and started feeling depressed because no matter how many times I tried to lose weight, it was hard to stay consistent and not eat junk food. I felt depressed and helpless which made it even harder to find the motivation.

It wasn’t until I got divorced that I finally decided to do something about it. At that time, I weighed 130kg (about 286 pounds). After my divorce, I was really messed up because of everything that I was going through which caused my weight to increase even more. At the same time, I had to take care of 2 kids under the age of 5 on my own, and I couldn’t stay active with them because I could barely run or play. I was constantly depressed and very tired all the time. This caused me to become an emotional eater; every time I felt sad and depressed, the more I ate.

At work, there were always treats and foods like pizza that I would eat, but after starting my weight loss journey, I started to bring my own lunch to work. I started making a smoothie every day for breakfast and when I was hungry during the day, I would drink smoothies or eat fruits instead of eating junk foods.

The first 4 months were very tough because there would be some days where I used to cheat on my diet and go back to my bad habits. However, I was determined because of my kids. I am still very young and I wanted to be able to play with them so I needed the energy in order to take care of them. I also wanted to feel confident, healthy, and be able to go on dates again.

Being a single mother and overweight is very tough and kids aren’t always able to understand why mom is always tired. Almost after 1 year of divorcing my ex-husband, I was determined to eat a clean diet and adapt to an exercise routine. I slowly started to cut out sugar, pops, and junk foods from my diet.

I also started to make meal plans every week. One day I weighed myself and saw that I had lost 5kg and I was very shocked but very happy at the same time. I had tears of joy for the first time in my life losing 5kg because I never thought it would happen. This increased my motivation and confidence and I even started to go to the gym. I started going to the gym 3 times a week for 45 minutes. Now, I go 5 times a week.

My weight loss has brought back my confidence and my self-esteem was regained. I realized that I can do anything that I previously did not think I was capable of. I thought I wouldn’t be able to raise 2 beautiful children alone, but now I am happier than ever. I have lost 62kg (about 136 pounds) in 1 year and 4 months with the help of eating healthy and exercising.

While going through my fitness and weight loss journey, everyone around me (my friends and family) were very surprised that I managed to lose this much weight in the given time frame. I started receiving a lot of compliments from my family and friends and that also boosted my confidence and took it to the next level. My friends also told me that I inspired them a lot and it’s good to see the community that I have built around me all because of my weight loss.

I hope this inspires anyone that is going through the same thing as me. Losing weight is not easy and it can be a burden both physically and mentally. However, with enough patience and being consistent, it is possible to lose weight. If I can do it, so can you. Do not listen to negative people because you will always be disappointed. Take your life in control by slowly cutting down the sugar and stuff that is making you crave it even more. Your body will start to change, and it will take time for sure but you need to put in the work as things do not change overnight.

Be consistent and you will one day see the changes that you have been waiting for. The number one motivation should be your health because, without it, we don’t have anything else. If our health isn’t our number one priority, then we are not able to improve other aspects of our life. Once I realized this, I dedicated to take matters into my own hand. By seeing dramatic changes to your body, you will have more energy and confidence.

Below are pictures of Sandra in which one she is a teenager, another one after having 2 kids, and the last one is of Sandra now, respectively 68 Kg (149 pounds).

But the results and life lasting benefits this will have to her quality of life and health make it all worthwhile. I’m sure every second of her journey she kept thinking about her kids. Nice inspiring read 🙂

I have read Sandra’s life story about her weight loss transformation. Many people is still frustrated for their over weight and bulky body fat. one of my close relative is really worried about this large size body. Though he is not eating to much now, he does not believe this over weightiness. I am going to share her story with him. Thanks for posting this real story.

  3. Thank you so much for sharing Sandra’s story.

Her story is so motivational, and will give great encouragement to anyone who has tried and so far failed to lose weight. Losing weight is not only beneficial from a health point of view, but also, as Sandra’s story shows, from an emotional and psychological point of view. When you know that you look so much better, you can’t help but feel better as well, so its a win-win situation.

I do hope that anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation as Sandra will take great heart from her story.

    Very many thanks.

    1. Thank you Chrissie for your comment. I couldn’t agree more! Losing weight is never easy but Sandra’s determination showed that anyone can do it. She is a true inspiration!

  4. Hi Bumi, that’s quite an interesting story. It is not easy to achieve weight loss but often times, it is easier to gain weight. This usually happens to Moms as a result of weight gained during pregnancy (the cravings that come with pregnancy) and that of postnatal stage. A person trying to loose weight can really be depressed if there are no love ones around to motivate and encourage her. It is such a relief that Sandra made up her mind to loose weight and started working towards it. Achieving desired weight loss comes with discipline (in terms of diet), patience and determination to keep keeping on.The cons that come with being overweight outweighs the pros, so it is very important that we watch what we eat all the time.

    1. That is true Gracen! I think she is a really strong woman, losing weight after pregnancy is not easy especially when you have lots of weight to lose. After having my 1st child, It took me almost 1 year to get back to my pre-baby weight but I was really happy when I finally achieved my goals.

  5. Sandra is a real inspiration. Imagine losing over 60 kegs. I battle to lose just 2.

She is right that the most important thing is your health, because without it life isn’t fun to live.

I think the most difficult thing about losing weight is keeping it off.  It is a matter of changing ones bad eating habits gradually to better ones, like swapping white bread for whole wheat.  I think we should work on replacing one bad thing for a good until it becomes a habit

    1. I agree with you Michel it’s not easy to maintain weight loss. Sticking to the change you ‘ve already made is the way to go to prevent weight regain.

  6. This amazing transformation and Sandra looks very beautiful it took a lot of dedication and hard work to achieve that figure she deserves to be celebrated. She has motivated many and she will continue to motivated more thanks to that figure it’s awesome the only thing I would like to know how does her X boyfriend react after seeing all the beauty he left behind? thanks for the blog.

    1. Thank you for your comment, Charles. She is beautiful indeed, before and after. I am glad she continues to inspire a lot of people. Her husband was shocked and couldn’t believe how much weight she has lost.   I am glad her dedication and hard work paid off!

  7. You didn’t disclose  the very product Sandra used to achieve her weight loss goals  but whatever product she has  used I rate the product high if those pictures are actually very good. I need just to know the product and the manufacturer of those products and the dosage of usage of the products.

    1. Thank you for your interest Kenechi!

Her weight loss journey was all natural no diet pills. She is actually planning to share her natural weight loss recipes very soon. Stay tuned!

  8. This goes to show that it’s just a matter of mindset.  Anyone can do it as long as they are engaged and motivated enough. I would like to congratulate Sandra on her incredible and inspiring journey.  It is very encouraging for anyone who has been there in the same place to see that it is very possible to succeed, so as long as you have a plan and stick to it!

I have lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago and I followed almost the same pattern.  The only difference was that I started to go to the gym right away. However, it wasn’t easy, especially when you look at others that are already skinny, but I did not let that get to me and I succeeded too!

    1. It’s true as long as you have the right mindset the results will follow no matter how long it will take.

That is awesome and great Denis. Congratulations! You are also a true inspiration.

  9. Wow, thanks for the helpful and informative post about weight loss transformation stories! Much excited! Though I’m a father of two, not a mom, I’ve also had a problem with my weight too for the past 5-7 years which started as a result of taking too much of fats and oil. I actually learned from a natural doctor that it’s not good for me to drink water along with eating, but I didn’t listen to that at all not until I started seeing the adverse effect.

Thanks for talking about consistency! It truly brings about the changes we’ve always expected. And health should be taken as the highest priority. Kudos for the helpful post!

    1. You are very welcome Israel! I am glad, you found this post interesting and thank you for sharing about your weight loss experience.  I read about “no water with meals” somewhere too it’s better to drink water before or 2hr after meals but not while eating.   That is great you are doing the right thing for your health. I hope you achieved your weight loss goals. All the best!
